ALTO ALTO – 15:15 Plumpton (NAP)
You rule out a Chris Gordon horse at Plumpton at your peril as a punter and there’s definitely a case for ALTO ALTO bouncing back off a reduced mark with ground conditions in his favour. The nine-year-old just hasn’t got going at all yet this season but he’s not had his ground in fairness and he’s got a cracking record at this venue (three chase and two hurdle victories). Now rated 3lb lower than when successful in this corresponding contest 12 months ago, the visor is back on and he’s the selection on a very trappy card.
KINGSTON NARCISSUS – 15:00 Catterick
KINGSTON NARCISSUS claimed his first handicap success when upped in trip and fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time at Sedgefield on Boxing Day and a 5lb rise in the ratings looks manageable. He clearly handles ease in the ground, having broken his maiden over the extended two miles on soft ground and his natural pace – has 10-furlong Flat form during his time in France – could be a decent weapon around this tight track. His stable continues in decent form too so there's plenty to like.
ALONDRA – 17:30 Wolverhampton
Scott Dixon has his all-weather team in reasonable shape and ALONDRA looks a contender back from a break in the five-furlong dash at Wolverhampton. He’s been placed off this mark on his last two starts, including on stable debut at Newcastle when last seen on December 5, and he looks up to winning a race or two for his new connections this year having been snapped up quite cheaply (14,000 guineas) at the autumn horses-in-training sale.
